Purpose
Mechanism for discussing bilateral, regional, and global issues. Aims to deepen and enhance security and defence cooperation.
Background
Initiated in 2019 during the 13th India-Japan Annual Summit.
- First dialogue held in November 2019 in New Delhi.
- Second dialogue held in September 2022 in Tokyo, Japan.
2024 Dialogue
Indian Ministers: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Japanese Ministers: Defence Minister Kihara Minoru and Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa.
Discussions
Discussions focused on bilateral cooperation and exploring new initiatives, with an agreement on an open Indo-Pacific region.
