• Total Districts in Ladakh: After the formation of these five new districts, Ladakh will now have 7 districts (including Leh and Kargil).
• The creation of these districts aims to ensure better implementation and accessibility of government welfare schemes.

• The Home Ministry has given principle approval for the new districts.
• The Ladakh administration has been asked to form a committee to assess aspects like headquarters, boundaries, structure, and creation of posts.
• The committee must submit its report within three months.

News Fact:

• On August 5, 2019, Jammu & Kashmir was bifurcated into two Union Territories, creating Ladakh as a separate Union Territory under the direct administrative control of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
