3rd India-Japan 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue – 

    • Event: Held in New Delhi on 20 August 2024.
  • Purpose:
      • Mechanism for discussing bilateral, regional, and global issues.
      • Aims to deepen and enhance security and defence cooperation.
  • Background:
    • Initiated in 2019 during the 13th India-Japan Annual Summit.
    • First dialogue held in November 2019 in New Delhi.
  • Second dialogue held in September 2022 in Tokyo, Japan.
  • 2024 Dialogue:
    • Indian Ministers: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
    • Japanese Ministers: Defence Minister Kihara Minoru and Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa.
    • Discussions on bilateral cooperation and exploring new initiatives.
    • Agreement on an open Indo-Pacific region.
