Project-76: Indigenous Submarine Development for Indian Navy

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has initiated a study for the design and construction of India’s first indigenous diesel-electric attack submarines under Project-76.

Project Overview

  • Goal: To design and build 12 indigenous diesel-electric attack submarines.
  • Advancements: Integration of Air-Independent Propulsion (AIP), lithium-ion batteries, and indigenous weapon control systems.
