India's Space Missions: Chandrayaan-4 and Indian Space Station
India to Launch Chandrayaan-4 in 2027 and Indian Space Station in 2028
Chandrayaan-4 (2027):
Announcement: Made by ISRO chief Dr. S Somnath on August 23 (National Space Day).
Launch: Chandrayaan-4 will be launched in 2027.
Design: The design of Chandrayaan-4 has been finalized.
Features:
- Chandrayaan-4 will bring 3-5 kg of soil and rock samples from the surface of the moon to Earth.
- It will have 5 different modules.
Comparison with Chandrayaan-3: Chandrayaan-3 (2023) had three modules – propulsion module, lander, and rover.
Indian Space Station (2028):
First Module Launch: Will happen in 2028.
Features:
- Only robots will be sent in the initial module.
- A total of five modules will be sent into space one by one.
