Transformation of Fair Price Shops (FPS) into Jan Poshan Kendra
Initiative Launch
Union Minister Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi launched a pilot to transform 60 Fair Price Shops (FPS) into Jan Poshan Kendra. The pilot is being conducted in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Objective
The initiative aims to enhance food security, curb malnutrition, ensure transparency, and prevent system leakages.
Jan Poshan Kendra
- Offers a variety of nutrition-rich food items.
- Provides an additional income source for FPS dealers.
- Stores 50% nutrition products and 50% other household items.
Launch of Digital Initiatives
FPS-Sahay Application
Developed by SIDBI, this app offers Invoice Based Financing (IBF) to FPS dealers. It provides paperless, collateral-free, and cash flow-based financing.
Mera Ration App 2.0
Enhanced with additional features for beneficiaries, this app facilitates seamless transactions under the One Nation One Ration Card system.
Quality Management System (QMS)
A digital application that integrates Quality Control labs in DFPD & FCI, capturing real-time data during procurement, storage, and distribution of food grains.
Quality Control and Manual Inaugurations
Quality Manual Handbook
Provides detailed procedures, standards, and policies for ensuring strict quality standards of central pool food grains.
Contract Manual of FCI
Ensures transparency, competitiveness, and maximized participation in FCI tenders.
NABL Accreditation
Accreditation of 3 laboratories for compliance with international standards, enhancing quality, reliability, and customer confidence in testing and calibration services.
Government Initiatives and Vision
Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY)
Extended for another five years with a financial outlay of around Rs 12 lakh crore, aiming to expand food security in the country.
