The Geological Survey of India has confirmed large reserves of lithium in Katghora, located in Korba district of Chhattisgarh.

Area

The lithium reserves are spread across approximately 250 hectares in Katghora.

Significance

Katghora is set to host the country's first lithium mine, which will start operations soon.

Development of Lithium Mine

The central government has entrusted the development work to Mackie South Mining Company.
