The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, approved 12 new projects under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) with a total investment of ₹28,602 crore.
Strategic Locations:
The projects will span across 10 states, including industrial nodes in:
- Khurpia (Uttarakhand)
- Rajpura-Patiala (Punjab)
- Dighi (Maharashtra)
- Palakkad (Kerala)
- Agra and Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh)
- Gaya (Bihar)
- Zaheerabad (Telangana)
- Orvakal and Kopparthy (Andhra Pradesh)
- Jodhpur-Pali (Rajasthan)
Key Features:
- Global Standards: The industrial cities will be developed as greenfield smart cities, built ahead of demand with 'plug-n-play' and 'walk-to-work' concepts.
- Multi-modal Connectivity: Aligned with PM GatiShakti, these projects will feature seamless connectivity for people, goods, and services.
Economic Impact:
- Expected to generate 1 million direct jobs and up to 3 million indirect jobs.
