Overview:

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, approved 12 new projects under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP) with a total investment of ₹28,602 crore.

Strategic Locations:

The projects will span across 10 states, including industrial nodes in:

  • Khurpia (Uttarakhand)
  • Rajpura-Patiala (Punjab)
  • Dighi (Maharashtra)
  • Palakkad (Kerala)
  • Agra and Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh)
  • Gaya (Bihar)
  • Zaheerabad (Telangana)
  • Orvakal and Kopparthy (Andhra Pradesh)
  • Jodhpur-Pali (Rajasthan)

Key Features:

  • Global Standards: The industrial cities will be developed as greenfield smart cities, built ahead of demand with 'plug-n-play' and 'walk-to-work' concepts.
  • Multi-modal Connectivity: Aligned with PM GatiShakti, these projects will feature seamless connectivity for people, goods, and services.

Economic Impact:

  • Expected to generate 1 million direct jobs and up to 3 million indirect jobs.
  • Contributing to regional socio-economic upliftment.

The NICDP aims to position India as a key player in Global Value Chains, fostering self-reliance and global competitiveness.
