ASMITA Project

Overview:

Launched by: University Grants Commission (UGC) & Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti

Objective: To develop 22,000 books in Indian languages over the next 5 years to promote Indian languages in education and make learning more inclusive.

Key Features:

  • 22,000 Indian language books to be developed.
  • 13 nodal universities and member universities are involved in the project.
  • Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) created for the book writing process including author selection, topic allocation, editing, etc.

Other Initiatives:

"Bahubhasha Shabdakosh" - Centralized Dictionary for All Indian Languages

  • Developed by the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti.
  • Aims to promote the use of Indian languages in new-age fields such as IT, industry, research, and education.
