About the Role:

As a Tax Manager , you will be a key leader within a public accounting firm, overseeing tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for a diverse client base. You will manage and mentor tax professionals, review complex tax filings, and provide strategic guidance to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tax Compliance & Review: Oversee the preparation and review of complex corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
• Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor, providing tax planning and consulting services to help clients optimize their tax positions.
• Leadership & Team Development: Supervise and mentor tax associates and senior staff, review their work, provide coaching, and foster professional growth.
• Regulatory Updates: Stay informed on changing tax laws and advise clients and firm leadership on their potential impacts.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement tax process efficiencies, improving accuracy and turnaround times.
• Audit Support: Assist clients with tax audits, responding to inquiries from tax authorities.
• Business Development: Help build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for additional service offerings.

Key Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should have:

• Tax Expertise: Strong knowledge of corporate, partnership, and individual taxation, including multi-state and federal regulations.
• Leadership Skills: Experience leading and developing a team of tax professionals, including training, mentoring, and performance management.
• Client-Facing Skills: Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, offering proactive tax strategies and insights.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH, ProSystem fx, Lacerte, UltraTax) and strong Excel skills.
• Problem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical skills to identify tax-saving opportunities and solve complex tax issues.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to convey complex tax concepts to clients and colleagues.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

• Degree: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s in Taxation preferred.
• Experience: Minimum 5+ years of public accounting tax experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Certification: CPA required.
