Lokpal and Its Functioning

Inquiry Wing of Lokpal

The Inquiry Wing was established under Section 11 of the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Act, 2013. It is responsible for conducting preliminary inquiries into offenses under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Lokpal Chairperson is authorized to appoint officers and staff for logistical assistance in the inquiry wing.

Structure of Inquiry Wing

• Director of Inquiry: The head under the Lokpal Chairperson.
• Assisted by Three SPs:
  • SP (General)
  • SP (Economic & Banking)
  • SP (Cyber)
• Each SP has inquiry officers and other staff for support.
