New Parliamentary Committees Formed for 2024-25

Parliamentary Committees: New Committees: Lok Sabha Speaker recently constituted six new Parliamentary Committees. Committees: Public Accounts Committee (PAC): Monitoring government expenditure. Estimates Committee: Efficiency and scrutiny of government expenditure. Public Enterprises Committee: Focus on performance of public enterprises. OBC, SC, and ST Welfare Committees: Focus on development of these sections. Committee Composition: Tenure: One year.

Membership: Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Traditional Approach: Earlier Procedure: Committees were formed on an electoral basis. Present Procedure: Mainly by consensus. Constitutional Basis: Article 105: Powers and Privileges. Article 118: Rules of Conduct of Business. Committee Types: Standing Committees: Formed for regular work. Ad-hoc Committees: Temporary committees for specific work or review of bills.
