PARAM Rudra Supercomputer
Developed Indigenously: Under the National Supercomputing Mission.
Deployment Locations:
- Delhi: Deployed at the Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC) for research in material science and atomic physics.
- Pune: Used by GMRT for studying Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) and astronomical phenomena.
- Kolkata: Located at S N Bose Centre for research in physics, cosmology, and earth sciences.
High-Performance Computing (HPC) System:
Designed for weather and climate research, located at IITM, Pune, and NCMRWF, Noida.
- System Names: 'Arka' and 'Arunika', which enhance predictions for tropical cyclones, heatwaves, droughts, and other weather phenomena.
National Supercomputing Mission (NSM):
Launched: In 2015 to provide supercomputing infrastructure.
Aims: Serve academia, researchers, MSMEs, and startups.
Collaboration: Between MeitY and DST, implemented by C-DAC, Pune and IISc, Bengaluru.
