National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) 2.0
Objective
The objective of NATS is to skill Indian youth in trade disciplines and provide them with opportunities for hands-on training.
Legislative Background
NATS is governed by the Apprentices Act, 1961, which was amended in 1973.
Eligibility
The scheme is available for:
- Graduates
- Diploma students
- Vocational certificate holders
Training Duration
The training period under NATS is from 6 months to 1 year.
Stipend
Apprentices are entitled to a stipend, with 50% of the stipend reimbursed by the Government of India.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the training, apprentices will receive a Certificate of Proficiency that is valid for employment exchanges.
Employment Prospects
There is no guarantee of employment post-training, as the focus is on enhancing employability skills.

The NATS 2.0 portal was developed by the Ministry of Education, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and Boards of Apprenticeship Training (BoATs/BoPT).
