Smart Cities Mission (SCM)

• Launched: 25 June 2015.
• Objective: Enhance cities with core infrastructure, clean environment, and quality of life.
• Focus: Sustainable, inclusive development with replicable models.
• Funding:
  • Central Government: ₹48,000 crore (₹100 crore/city/year).
• Core Infrastructure: Water supply, sanitation, housing, mobility, health, education, governance.
• Private Sector Participation: Emphasis on Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).
• Goal: Transform cities into smart, sustainable, and inclusive spaces.
• Status: 90% of projects completed (as per Urban Affairs Ministry).
