Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launches EdCIL Vidyanjali Scholarship Programme
- Vidyanjali Scholarship: Aids Navodaya Vidyalaya students for higher education.
- Focus: Access to quality education for economically disadvantaged students.
- Funding: Non-government sources like CSR grants, donors.
- Initial Beneficiaries: Grade XI and XII students from Navodaya Vidyalayas.
- EdCIL is the sole PSU under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
- Established in 1981 and categorized as 'Mini Ratna'.
What is EdCIL?
Cabinet approves "Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojana (PM-MKSSY)"
- Date: 8th February 2024.
- Funding: Rs. 6,000 crore, with 50% from public finance (including World Bank and AFD) and 50% from beneficiaries/private sector.
- Implementation Period: 4 years, from FY 2023-24 to FY 2026-27 across all States and UTs.
- Beneficiaries: Fishers, farmers, workers, vendors, and related enterprises, including micro and small enterprises, FFPOs, and other identified beneficiaries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launches the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana
- Date: 15th February 2024.
- Objective: Offers up to 300 units of free electricity per month to beneficiaries.
- Investment: Over Rs 75,000 crores, targeting 1 crore households.
- Government Support: No cost burden through subsidies and concessional bank loans.
National Solar Mission (NSM)
- Launched: January 11th, 2010, as part of the National Action Plan on Climate Change.
- Goal: Establish India as a global leader in solar energy, aligning with Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) targets.
NITI Aayog Launches Greening India's Wastelands with Agroforestry (GROW) Report and Portal
- About GROW Portal: “Greening and Restoration of Wasteland with Agroforestry (GROW)-Suitability Mapping" portal, hosted on Bhuvan website.
- Led by: NITI Aayog, aiming to restore 26 million hectares of land by 2030.
